Associated Ceramics Typical Materials

Alumina – Modern alumina (Al2O3) products are among the strongest and hardest of all ceramic materials. Alumina ceramics also feature very high mechanical strength, high thermal conductivity, and high resistance to chemical and corrosion attack at room and elevated temperatures. Associated Ceramics has earned a reputation for achieving dimensionally accurate alumina parts with excellent quality and reproducibility. More Alumina and Physical Properties

Cordierite – Cordierite is a magnesium aluminum silicate which possesses an extremely low thermal expansion and low thermal conductivity. Cordierite is used when thermal shock is a concern in the finished product. Applications include refractory shapes, welding tapes, heaters, thermocouples, and appliance insulators. More Cordierite and Physical Properties

Steatite – Steatite is a crystalline form of magnesium silicate. It is a low loss, low cost, relatively good strength insulating material which can function safely at temperatures up to 2,000° F. Applications include high frequency insulation, resistor cores and casings, and appliance insulators. More Steatite and Physical Properties

Wollastonite – Wollastonite is a calcium magnesium silicate. Wollastonite compositions can be formulated with 20 to 40 percent porosity. This variable porosity adjusts the overall strength versus thermal shock. Wollastonite is most often used for kiln furniture. More Wollastonite and Physical Properties

Zirconia – Zirconia (ZrO2) is a unique advanced ceramic. Products manufactured from zirconia powder exhibit superior mechanical properties such as high strength and flexibility. More Zirconia and Physical Properties
